Zionsville Middle School students show support for friend with Lymphoma

Zionsville Middle School sixth grader, Ben Swenberg was recently diagnosed with Lymphoma.  His friends, knowing that the chemo would make him lose his hair, banded together to shave their heads to show their support and friendship.

The boys, their parents and many siblings, gathered at the shelter at Mulberry Fields last Sunday and started shaving.

Pam Weddle led the “stylists” in attempting to get the best look possible for the boys.  In addition, when Swenberg was able to return to school this week, they all met again at Mulberry before school to walk Swenberg into the school so that he didn’t feel funny about his new look.

“These kids have been truly remarkable.  As parents, it’s so sweet to see them do something that they wouldn’t maybe normally do and do it for a friend,” said parent Kathy Wood, in an email to Current.
