Another sign of the revitalization of the Village of West Clay will occur when local restaurant Pizzology opens its new location in the former Brenwick building.

The building was recently purchased by local developer Pittman Partners which targeted Pizzology to fill the vacant space left by the former Pamfilio’s Italian restaurant.

Pizzology owner Neal Brown signed a lease for the space July 11 and said in a statement that construction will begin immediately and the new restaurant is expected to open in late September.

The news is sure to make residents of the Village of West Clay happy as they have long lamented the vacancy in their limited commercial space.

“The West Clay Pizzology will be similar in size to the original location on Hazel Dell Parkway, with the hopes of serving not only the Village of West Clay but the Zionsville community as well,” Brown said in a statement.

Alex Cain has lived in the Village for 11 years and sells real estate for West Clay Realty. She previously told Current in Carmel it’s the perfect spot for a new restaurant.

“A new business will have a very captive audience,” she said. “The residences here are chomping at the bit. It’s all everyone talks about. We are at the point where we’re like, ‘Please, someone come.’ Because we miss it. And now we’re not going to take it for granted.”

Pizzology specializes in its unique brand of craft pizzas paired with a great selection of beer and wine. But its menu is varied enough that it even serves gelato and home-made tiramisu.

Pizzology has locations on Mass Ave. in Indianapolis and in the shopping center at Main Street and Hazel Dell Parkway in east Carmel. The locations are more than just a restaurant and feature a full bar with specialty mixed drinks like the Pear & Pepper Prosecco or the Gold Rush – made with bourbon, lemon and honey.

Pizzas come in group or personal sizes with a wide variety of unique toppings that will give diners a reason to come back and try something new. And Pizzology also offers a wide range of other Italian fare for more formal dining as well.

“We are very excited to be bringing Pizzology to West Carmel. The neighborhood has been incredibly enthusiastic. We like the idea of being a neighborhood gathering place much like we are in Carmel and increasingly on Mass Ave.,” owner Neal Brown said in a statement. “It’s fun to see people walk in to Pizzology and randomly see someone that they know from the neighborhood, or from their kid’s schools. It makes us feel like we are part of the fabric of these communities, which is exactly what we want to achieve with each location.”
