Quilting bees were social events masquerading as work sessions popular from early settler times to the present times for women of Zionsville. Church groups or neighbors convened to piece and stitch quilts made from scraps of fabric saved by frugal housewives. Elaborate patterns with picturesque names were shared along with the latest community news. Modern versions of theses quilts will go display at the SullivanMunce Cultural Center from July 11 to Sept. 27.
