Hamilton County Parks host third annual Race Across Hamilton County Team Activities Challenge

Seven parks and recreation departments throughout Hamilton County and Indiana Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) are partnering up for the third annual Race Across Hamilton County Team Activities Challenge on Saturday, August 23rd.

A spin-off of the hugely popular television show, The Amazing Race, the Race Across Hamilton County Team Activities Challenge offers a chance for teams of two, ages 14 and older, to compete in mental, physical and passive challenges at four different park sites around Hamilton County, and the planning committee needs your help!

Each year, the event hosts rely on over 100 volunteers to help put on the event.  Witness teams attempt a variety of fun, wacky challenges while volunteering.  Specific duties may include helping set-up for site activities, monitoring challenges, parking assistance, and site clean-up.  There are four different park sites throughout Hamilton County, and volunteers can sign up to volunteer at one site, or at all four.  Volunteer shifts are generally 3 hours, and all volunteers will receive a free t-shirt!

This year, the event expanded to accommodate sixty teams of two, and registration filled up in one day.  Race coordinator and Westfield Parks and Recreation Special Events Coordinator, Amanda Jackson, says there is a great need for volunteers. “Without the help of generous volunteers, this event would not be possible, nor would it have experienced the overwhelming success it has in what is now the event’s third year.”  She adds that “It’s a fun, exciting way to give back to the community.”
