Fans of comic books and gaming looking for an event of their own after this year’s CarmelFest need look no longer. Carmel’s own Fanboys Comics, 620 S Range Line Rd #IB, will hold Comic Fest on July 6, hoping to drawn even more customers and fans to the store.

“We’re hoping to spread the word that we’re here, so we can get more people to come in,” said Brian Hastings, shop manager for Fanboys Comics.

The event will draw local talent from various areas of the geek culture industry, including artists and writers like Matthew Vincent, Brandy Wilkes-Grimm, Jordan Marsh, publishing companies FIGID Press and LM Studios and woodburning art company Ironwood Treasures.

The store will also hold a cosplay contest, with a $25 gift card as grand prize. The store may also offer a prize from the store corresponding to their character, Hastings said.

Attending vendors will be selling their art and merchandise.

“It’s kind of like an artist alley, like you’d see at Comic Con,” Hastings said.

The event will be held from 11a.m. until people stop coming, Hastings said. No admission cost will be asked of attendees.
