Noblesville Police said alcohol was involved in a single-car crash involving two people shortly after midnight on July 3.

At approximately 12:07 a.m., Noblesville Police officers responded to the area of Cumberland Road and North Point Boulevard and made contact with the driver and passenger of the vehicle involved in a one-car motor vehicle crash.

Based on witness statements and evidence at the scene, NPD Lt. Bruce Barnes said it appears the 1996 Jeep driven by Matt H. Rider, 32, of Fishers was traveling south bound on Cumberland Road when it left the roadway near the intersection of North Point Boulevard.

“After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a curb, sign, utility box and fence before finally coming to rest at the edge of a retention pond. Both the driver and passenger were able to exit the vehicle prior to police arrival,” Barnes stated.

Barnes said passenger Kristin A. Fitrzyk, 34, of Fishers was initially transported by ambulance to Riverview Health Hospital in Noblesville and later to St.Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with non-life threatening injuries. Rider received minor injuries as a result of the crash and was treated and released by medics at the scene.

Police also investigated Rider for suspicion of intoxication. After investigatory steps were administered, Barnes said Rider was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and booked on three preliminary charges involving operation of a vehicle while intoxicated.
