The Indiana Municipal Power Agency will build a 14,000-square-foot conference center in Carmel as well as renovate their current office space.
The IMPA is a not-for-profit power provider to 59 cities in Indiana, and Carmel is seen as the central meeting point for the company.
“In over 30 years of operations, we have grown from a small agency providing power to only 11 municipally-owned utilities to a $1.6 billion company serving 60 communities in Indiana and Ohio,” said Raj Rao, President and CEO of IMPA.
The estimated $7 million high tech facility is set to be completed by the spring of 2015. And its construction will provide up to 35 construction jobs in the area.
“We are excited for the opportunity to create an expanded office space and state-of-the-art meeting center that will reliably serve the needs of our members and our staff for years to come,” Rao said.
This high tech conference center will combine first-class technology and lots of meeting space. The center will be built to host the companies various meetings and events.
“The number of communities served by IMPA has grown rapidly in the past decade,” said Marlow Smethurst, Superintendent of Tell City Electric Department and Chairman of the IMPA Board of Commissioners.
The newly renovated office space will also match the look and feel of the conference center.
The Blackline firm designed the architecture of the facility and Brandt construction will oversee the construction and renovation of both these facilities.
