Staff report

Photo, video and electronics retailer Roberts Camera is planning to expand its operations, creating 35 new jobs by 2018, while maintaining a presence in the Indianapolis area.

The company will establish its new headquarters at 220 E. St. Clair Street in Indianapolis, investing $2.54 million to lease, renovate, and equip its new 35,000 square-foot facility. Its current headquarters is located at 255 S. Meridian Street.

Roberts Camera will receive assistance from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in the form of up to $150 thousand in conditional tax credits and up to $18 thousand in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans.

The conditional tax credit will demand that the company actually hire Indiana residents before receiving receiving the funds.

Roberts Camera co-founder Robert Pallman said nothing will change for the Carmel store.

“We love our location. There’s no plans for changing that,” Pallman said.
