Random Drug Testing: A done deal?

Last week, Current in Zionsville ran a cover story about the random drug testing program that could affect Zionsville Community High School students who drive to school, play sports, or participate in extra curricular activities.

According to Current’s sources at Midwest Toxicology, the testing company for the program, the school’s drug advisory board is supporting this program 100 percent, and has taken all necessary steps to implement it and approve it.

On Monday, June 9, the Zionsville Community School Board of Trustees will hear the second reading of the plan, after which the board is expected to offer its recommendation for how many students can and should be tested, and when they will be tested.

Current in Zionsville encourages all community members to attend the June 9 meeting and talk to board members about the ramifications of a program such as random drug testing.

In the meantime, Current wants to know: do you think the schools should start random drug testing? Email your thoughts to [email protected].
