Staff report

Crews expect to close the intersection of Main Street and Pennsylvania Street before the morning rush hour June 4. It will be closed for approximately 60 days for the construction of a new roundabout.

Currently, Main Street (131st Street) is closed between Illinois and Pennsylvania streets and will remain closed through this fall.

Beginning June 3, INDOT crews plan to restrict one lane of northbound U.S. 31 between 146th and 161st streets for installation of reflective lane marking devices.

Northbound U.S. 31 lane restrictions will be in place between 9 p.m. tonight and 6 a.m. June 4.

111th Street overpass

On June 9 work crews plan to begin construction on the future overpass at 111th Street.

Upon completion of the project, 111th Street will cross over U.S. 31, thus eliminating direct access to and from U.S. 31. The nearest U.S. 31 interchanges will be located at 106th and 116th streets.

INDOT crews plan to close 111th Street from just west of Tottenham Drive (west of U.S. 31) to Illinois Street for approximately three weeks. During this time, residents will only have access to and from Meridian Suburban via U.S. 31 – not Illinois Street.

After those three weeks, 111th Street will reopen between Tottenham Drive and Illinois Street. Then, access to and from U.S. 31 at 111th Street will close permanently. Crews will then begin construction of the 111th Street bridge over U.S. 31, which is expected to take approximately six months. Upon completion of the bridge, motorists on 111th Street will be able to travel east/west over U.S. 31.
