Physics Demonstration Night Tuesday at Noblesville High School

Noblesville High School will host its 24th annual Physics Demonstration Night on March 25. The evening’s activities are geared toward students in elementary and middle school. Hands-on activities and demonstrations begin at 6:30 p.m. and are followed by an hour-long stage demonstration of physics at 7. Everything is free.

“Physics is Phun” is a slogan long heard around the NHS science department. The slogan comes to life for younger students each year when long-time teacher Charles Emmert enlists the assistance of physics students to organize Physics Demonstration Night each year to illustrate basic physics principles in an entertaining fashion.

The stage demonstration takes place in the Large Group Instruction Room. The hands-on activities and demonstrations take place in the hallway outside the LGI.

The stage presentations will feature lasers, inertia, sound, electrostatics, a Van de Graaf generator, and more. The hands-on activities, demonstrations, and displays will include concave and convex mirrors, a hovercraft, Chinese Spouting Bowl, a plasma ball, sound and standing waves, and more.

Guests should park in the parking lot on north side of Noblesville High School, along Field Drive, and enter the school through Gate 12 near the west end of the bus zone.
