Town of Zionsville Street and Stormwater Department: All roads under Zionsville Street Department jurisdiction have been cleared and we are salting problem areas such as hills and intersections on major streets. Given the extremely cold temperatures, it requires a great deal of salt to get down to bare pavement, and can actually make matters worse when it becomes so diluted that what liquid remains refreezes. We are planning for an early morning Wednesday application of salt to all major roads, but side streets will remain very slick. Efforts to haul off snow from the downtown business district are on-going, but precedence will have to be given to slick roads and that effort may be suspended to deal with other critical action requirements.
