What to expect from mayor post

The Fishers Chamber of Commerce is doing a good turn for the business community with respect to educating us on the coming change in form of government from town manager to mayor in 2014. It is conducting, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 20, what should prove to be a highly informative session on what to expect. The details will come straight from the “horses’ mouths.” The chamber has lined up Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard, Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear and Westfield Mayor Andy Cook, as well as moderator Kevin Rader of WTHR13, for the session. The mayoral trio should be able to provide a wealth of information, considering their various experiences and successes. The event will be at the Forum Conference Center. To reserve a seat, please contact the chamber at www.fisherschamber.com or call 578.0700.

Halloween fans unite! The Town of Fishers is sponsoring the seasonal Boo Bash event at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 at Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. Boo Bash is a free, one-night event welcoming children of all ages for safe trick-or-treating, games and activities; including entertainment by Mik the Music Man and Jump and Hop. There will be a costume contest for children 12 and younger. Each winner will take home a prize pack. There also will be door prizes. There will be a Halloween Village, which will feature local businesses including Xsite Laser Tag, Bounce-U, Pro Martial Arts and Detour American Grille. Complimentary hot chocolate, apple cider, water and Pat’s Philly Pretzels will be served in the concession area as well as various treats that will be at each vendor’s tent. This event is further evidence that the amphitheater is not just a concert venue, as some might believe. The town is committed to diversity in programming for the space, and this proves it.
