Two drivers were taken by helicopter to local hospitals after a serious crash at 191st Street and Cyntheanne Road in eastern Hamilton County this morning. Shortly after 7 a.m. today, Hamilton County Sheriff deputies were dispatched on a report of a two vehicle collision involving a maroon Mercury Monterey van and a white GM Savana work van. Witnesses of the collision told deputies that one of the vans disregarded the stop sign northbound on Cyntheanne Road at the intersection and struck the other van.
Richard Purcell, 50, of Indianapolis was transported by helicopter to St. Vincent’s Hospital on 86th Street. He was unconscious and sustained possible internal injuries. The other driver, Joel Smith, 27, of Noblesville was flown to Methodist Hospital due to possible internal injuries and chest pain. No other specific information on the nature of the injuries is available at this time.
