Most people see their jobs as a paycheck and live for the weekends. Rickey Cinamon is motivated each day by his coworkers and helping individuals reach their goals.

Cinamon, a general manager for LA Fitness in Fishers, said he enjoys affecting his customers’ lives for the better.

“It’s awesome to come to work,” he said. “You hear ‘My life has changed’ and ‘Thank you so much’ from our customers.’”

Cinamon credits his teammates, Aaron Feeney, Josh Randolph, Jimmie Green and Sam Smith, with the overall success rate in helping gym members achieve their goals. Personal trainers assist customers by teaching them a variety of exercises, choosing a realistic pace and holding them accountable.

“One month later the members are seeing awesome results,” he said.

Although Cinamon was born in the Indianapolis area, he grew up in Arizona, played football in high school and earned a degree in business finance. He moved back to Indiana about six months ago and discovered a new challenge: driving in bad weather.

“My snow driving skills aren’t the best,” he admitted. “It’ll take some practice.”

In his spare time, Cinamon continues his passion for fitness by participating in CrossFit programs and mentoring his brother, who is training and dieting in preparation of joining the army.

“I love being a role model for him,” Cinamon said.

Cinamon’s advice for getting and staying fit? Make sure you have a game plan for success, he said. “Seeing long-term success makes us happy in the industry.”
