From Jan. 1 to May 31, the Westfield Police Dept. has responded to 183 motor vehicle accidents. Police said the top five locations with the most accidents are Greyhound Pass and U.S. 31 (12), U.S. 31 and 169th Street and Ind. 32 (10 each), and U.S. 31 and 151 and 161 streets (eight each). The top five accident causes are following too closely, failure to yield to the right of way, unsafe backing, driver inattention and improper turning.
