Ground was broken on The Barrington of Carmel, the city’s first and only life care retirement community, on Oct. 5.

The Barrington will be a $119 million retirement community constructed upon a 19.5 acre campus located at Guilford Road, off 116 Street. It is slated to be completed in 2013.

Presentations were given by Charles Brewer, President and CEO, SQLC; Raymond Goodman; Vice Chairman, Mayflower Communities; Rick Sharp, Carmel City Council President; Kim Jule, Executive Director, St.Vincent Center for Healthy Aging, Hospice and Home Care; John Cronin, Principle, AG Architecture; and Lisa Fosnaugh, Senior Living Counselor, The Barrington of Carmel.

“This unique community is a great addition to Carmel and is imperative to the development of the city,” said Brewer. “It will bring an area of choice for those who are retired and seeking an active lifestyle in the heart of Carmel.”
