On Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Conner Prairie will host its annual Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day Live. Guests will receive free admission to the park to celebrate it’s partnership with the Smithsonian Museum. In order to attend, guests must download the free ticket from the CP website.

“All people have to do is go to our website at connerprairie.org to download their ticket to get free admission as part of us being the only Smithsonian affiliate in Indiana,” said Duane Brodt, director of public relations for CP.

The day will also include a special event for guests.

“It’s a normal day plus one special event. The day’s activities include the White River Past and Present Program. That’s in conjunction with Indiana’s White River Festival which promotes awareness of the river and it’s importance to the region. We invite our guests that day to take a trek down the banks of our White River and take in some scenery and spend the day out enjoying animal and plant life,” said Brodt.

CP is the only museum in the state to be affiliated with the Smithsonian.

“It’s so valuable to us because we are networked with the largest museum in the country. We’re able to take advantage of special speakers, special exhibits and they assist us with consultations. We’re affiliated with other museums across the country. It’s a nice network for us,” said Brodt.

In the past they’ve had around 4,000 people attend the event. Guests need to download their ticket in advance. They will not be allowed free admission at the door without it. The 1859 Balloon Voyage will be running that day, but guests need to purchase an additional ticket for the event.
