The Carmel Marathon man did it again.
Jesse Davis, a Broad Ripple resident, won the Carmel Marathon in 2:25.26 on April 18 for the fourth consecutive year. Davis, 33, won the half-marathon in the inaugural Carmel Marathon in 2011.
“It was pretty warm,” Davis said. “Originally I thought I would go out for my course record pace, which was 2:21.46 (set last year). Then it started heating up so I just cruised to get the win. I backed off a little bit because I have a big race in June that I have to save my legs for.” Davis will compete in Grandma’s Marathon in Des Moines, Iowa on June 20.
Lucie Mays-Sulewski, a 44-year-old Westfield resident, was the overall women’s winner. Her training partner from Westfield, Kim Weiss, 36, placed second.
Davis and Mays-Sulewski each earned $750 for the victory.
