The Waterpark at Carmel’s Monon Community Center will have a splashy new Kiddie Pool feature when it opens at 11 a.m. May 25.
“Over the years, we have tried to keep the park features fresh and exciting for our guests,” said Eric Mehl, recreation and facilities director for Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation. “One area that we have not done any improvements to yet has been the Kiddie Pool. This year, we felt it was time to refresh that area to give the youngest visitors something new and exciting to play with. The original attractions in that pool were a simple slide that only allowed one child to enjoy it at a time and a water feature that allowed the kids to play in basins of water.”
The structure, which is due to be installed by opening day, is for children less than 48 inches tall.
Mehl said the new play structure is modeled after the large play structure in the Activity Pool the center debuted in 2017.
“The new structure is much more interactive than what was in there before, which allows more children to enjoy the space at a time, featuring a larger slide, interactive water features and spray features that rain water down from above,” Mehl said.
In addition, it is modeled after a feature put in the indoor facility a few years ago, replacing a single slide with a similar interactive play structure.
“The feature indoors and the large structure outside have both proven to be very popular with the kids, so we have the same expectation for this new addition,” Mehl said.
Season passes are on sale for those who wish to purchase one before opening day.
