DeReamer persuaded to run again for Fishers City Council

Brad DeReamer had one main reason for running for a third term representing the Northeast District on the Fishers City Council.

“With the overwhelming outpouring from my constituents to run again, it was hard to say no,” said DeReamer, a Republican who originally said he wasn’t going to seek reelection.

The primary election is May 2. Dan Canan, a former Muncie mayor, also had filled to run as a Republican in the Northeast District, but has since withdrawn from the race..

DeReamer, 76, said one of the biggest issues for the Fishers City Council is “getting developers and builders to follow the Fishers Existing Zoning Code instead of developing everything under a PUD (planned unit development) and for the city to enforce the PUD once approved.”

DeReamer outlined some of things he is most proud of during his first two terms:

The retired businessman describes himself as a serial entrepreneur, having previously owned eight companies, including two engineering/land surveying firms, two Hardee’s restaurants, Dream Custard, Dream World travel agency, Dream Realty and Dream Investments, Builder.

DeReamer spent three terms as Hancock County surveyor and was the mayor of Greenfield for one term.

DeReamer, who served in the U.S. Army Reserves and Indiana National Guard, has been married to Sharon for 42 years. They have five children, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
