ReStore will pick up items too big for the owners to deliver. It sends a truck around three times a week. ReStore Ambassadors Roy Cooper, right, and Dara Jones load a couch from the Beth Beck family of Zionsville.

Late last year, Habitat for Humanity of Boone County opened a store at 10650 Andrade Dr. in Zionsville. ReStore accepts and resells donated furniture, appliances and building materials, in keeping with the mission of Habitat to provide homes for those who cannot afford them without help. Habitat believes that all hard-working individuals and families should have access to the benefits and stability of homeownership. It partners with families to build simple, decent and affordable housing.
ReStore should not be confused with other charitable organizations that resell clothing, books and other household goods. Since habitat’s mission is to help people build homes, it accepts and resells items connected to that mission. Furniture is a large amount of its inventory, but it also sells such items as light fixtures, sinks, refrigerators, doors, window air conditioners, replacement windows, wiring, wood trim, flooring and washers and dryers.

The store is open Thursday through Saturday and is staffed almost entirely by volunteers. For those interested in dropping off goods, the store is open every day but Sunday. The store will even send a truck to pick up those items that are too big for the owners to bring. For more, visit boonehabitat.org/restore.
