Al Salam Foundation hosted the Mayor’s Civic Engagement Iftar June 9 at Creekside Middle School, bringing together Muslims and people from other faith communities for a meal to break the daily fast during the month of Ramadan. This year Ramadan runs from May 27 through June 24, a period during which Muslims fast from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. Al Salam is a Muslim community center in northwest Indianapolis that serves residents of Carmel, Zionsville and surrounding areas.
