January’s Edge Guys Teacher of the Month was Kristy Seitz, a fourth-grade teacher at Harrison Parkway Elementary in Fishers. Her student, Alyssa Morrissey, nominated her. As a reward, Morrissey won a pizza party for her classroom courtesy of Papa John’s, and Seitz won a $50 Visa gift card from EdgeGuys, Current’s Teacher of the Month sponsor.

Here is Morrissey’s winning essay:

“My teacher, Miss Seitz, should be Teacher of the Month because she is loving and caring. If you are stressed about a problem, she will come right to you! She is strict when she needs to be. She makes house visits to meet her students and family, which is very unique because no other teacher does that! When she puts us in assigned seats she still lets us talk, and we still do fun things. She even taught us yoga to help us when we need to refocus. These and other things is why I’m nominating my teacher, Miss Seitz.”

Students in grades K-12 are invited to enter Current’s March Teacher of the Month contest. Participants should send a 100-word essay explaining why their teacher should be named Teacher of the Month. Winning students will receive a pizza party for their class, sponsored by Papa John’s. Winning teachers will receive a $50 visa gift card. Essays are due by March 27 and should be emailed to teacher@youarecurrent.com.
