Boy Scouts Troops and their leaders and volunteers have $60,000 more in their pockets after this year’s Noblesville Mayor’s Breakfast for Scouting, held early Feb. 9 at the Hamilton Co. 4-H Fairgrounds.
With more than 300 in attendance, the fundraiser’s results and guest count were right on par with last year’s figures, said Crys Gilliat, development assistant for the Boy Scouts of America Crossroads of America Council.
Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear said the funds will provide scholarships and services to 994 Scouts and 438 adult volunteers. He continued, saying last year’s fundraising aided more than 1,200 scouts with camp scholarships. Throughout the county, approximately 1,500 adult volunteers serve 4,600 Scouts.
In 2015, 22 Noblesville Boy Scouts earned the rank of Eagle Scout – something only approximately 4 percent of Scouts achieve – and more than 3,351 hours of community service were worked.
