The Carmel City Council was left with little to discuss at its regular meeting Nov. 16 as each of the seven ordinances and two resolutions on the agenda remained in their respective committees, set to meet later in the month.

A pair of public hearings for two ordinances, both of which remain in the Finance, Administration and Rules Committee, garnered zero speakers from the community.

The first concerned an appropriation of $325,000 from the operating balance of the general fund needed for the operation of city buildings, while the second dealt with an appropriation of funds from the operating balance of the general fund totaling $5,385,651 — $3,435,500 from the general fund, $1,832,319 from the motor vehicle highway fund to 2014 B COIT bond, $95,000 from the local road and street fund, $2,554 from the cumulative capital improvement fund and $20,278 from the fire pension fund — in order to make the end-of-the-year budget whole following the budget cuts from the Department of Local Government Finance.

Also remaining in the Finance, Administration and Rules Committee are one ordinance and one resolution each dealing with the Proscenium project at the intersection of Carmel Drive and Range Line Road. That committee will next meet at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

The Land Use, Annexation and Economic Development Committee, in which four of the meeting’s business items remain, next meets at 4 p.m. Nov. 24.

The Economic Development Commission, scheduled to give the council a quarterly report in November, will instead do so at the council’s next meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 7.
