The October Teacher of the Month winner is Emily Wleklinski, a sixth grade teacher at Zionsville Middle School. Student Hanna Wilhite nominated her. As a reward, Hanna won a pizza party for her class, and Wleklinski won a $50 gift card for Market District, Teacher of the Month sponsor.
Here is Hanna’s winning essay:
I would like to nominate Mrs. Wleklinski, my 6th grade humanities teacher. She is kind, caring and inspiring. Around her room she has inspirational quotes like “If plan A fails, remember there are 25 other letters.”
She creates unique ways to learn history. To demonstrate how narrow the canyon was in the Battle of Thermopylae (in the Trojan War), we went outside and some people were walls, and the other people were fighters. They had the traitor come around and trap the other Spartans.
Every morning I can’t wait to walk into her room and start another day of fun-filled learning.
To submit an essay and nominate a teacher for the November Teacher of the Month, email a 100-word essay to Teacher@youarecurrent.com. All essays are due by Nov. 15.
