Planning to buy fireworks? Here’s what you need to know

As the Fourth of July is nearing fireworks sales are going up. But for residents who want to have a backyard light show there are some things to make note of before striking a match.

“As there is no local ordinances dealing with use of consumer fireworks, we go by and enforce the Indiana state laws regarding them,” said Zionsville Police Dept. Captain Jeffrey Morris.

Did you know that a person who recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally uses consumer fireworks and damages someone else’s property commits a class A misdemeanor and is punishable by imprisonment for one year and a fine of $10,000?
