Bub’s Burgers on Main Street at the Monon Trail will be closed until further notice after a possible early morning lightning strike likely caused a minor fire at the Carmel landmark restaurant.
The fire was called in at 5:44 a.m. While units were on the scene of an alarm next door at Detour’s, firefighters and neighbors saw smoke coming from Bub’s, said fire department spokesman Bruce Knott.
The fire was limited to a small area on the west side of the building. Some siding and the front door were damaged as firefighters worked to enter the building and contain the fire.
The total damage to internal components like gas or electrical devices is unknown at this time, Knott said.
No injuries were reported.
