Letter: Carmel city council should vote to replace Central District representative

0

Editor,

On May 16 the Carmel City Council will consider whether to restorel representation to the Central District. The Central District has been without a dedicated city councilor for a year and a half.

If the resolution passes, the Hamilton County Republican Party will hold a caucus to select Bruce Kimball’s replacement.

If it does not pass, the 17,000 people in the Central district will be without their dedicated representative for another year and a half (In total, three years without a dedicated Central District councilor).

Councilors should not vote out of sympathy for Mr. Kimball or their assessment that Central District representation is “good enough.” They should and must vote to restore to our district what every other district already has, an accountable representative.

Thanks to Councilors Sue Finkam, Laura Campbell and Tim Hannon for understanding the injustice of the situation and taking action to correct it. All councilors should vote yes.
