The Carmel Clay Public Library held a groundbreaking ceremony Oct. 21 to celebrate the beginning of a $40 million expansion and renovation of its main building at 55 4th Ave. SE. The project includes increased program and event capacity, a parking garage, on-site Digital Media Lab and enhanced outdoor space. While work is under way, the library is operating out of space in the Merchants’ Square shopping center at 2140 E. 116th St. The renovated library is expected to open in the fall of 2022.
