THE CHALLENGE:
This 2008 home is in Carmel’s Shelbourne Estates neighborhood. The new homeowners were looking to make several updates before moving in, including a full kitchen remodel, plus updates to the staircase and fireplace, to make the home their own.
THE SOLUTION:
- In order to create a more modern look, the ornamental balusters were switched out and the posts, rails and stair treads were stained a dark oak.
- The fireplace surround was updated with Carrara marble – the same material used in the kitchen backsplash – to tie the spaces together.
- The columns over the fireplace were removed and in their place is a custom-built tapered drywall chase that is now the stunning focal point of the room.
