Fishers patients will now have access to a greatly expanded Central Indiana Orthopedics care center.
“We’re hoping to provide everything a patient would need at one location,” said Dr. Jamie Kay, president of Central Indiana Orthopedics. “This will make it very convenient for them and provide the best care we can here in Fishers, like we’ve done in Anderson and Muncie. “
CIO is scheduled to open its new orthopedic care center June 1 in the MedTech Park campus, 14300 E. 138th St., Building B. The 48,000-square foot center will include a range of services, a walk-in clinic, diagnostics, surgery center and physical therapy for comprehensive care.
“We’ve been in Fishers for more than 10 years, but this is our first building of our own,” said Kay, a Fishers resident.
CIO has been in a leased suite inside Ascension St. Vincent Fishers Hospital.
“This will allow us to go into a full-service orthopedic center, where we will have a lot more office space so we can have a lot more doctors working at the same time,” Kay said. “We’ll have physical therapy there and we will run ourselves as well. We’ll have a surgery center where we can do outpatient surgery and 23-hour stay surgeries (and) the traditional orthopedic surgeries as well as joint replacements and spine surgery.”
Patients with urgent injuries can visit the walk-in clinic without an appointment or referral.
CIO will lease space to a primary care doctor. Northwest Radiology Imagining Center will have a suite inside the center.
“It pretty much covers the whole spectrum of what a patient with an orthopedic problem would need under one roof,” Kay said. “We have buildings in similar size and scope in both Anderson and Muncie, and so we’re trying to replicate that model in Fishers.”
Kay said the surgery center will likely open the by the middle of this month.
The center features innovations such as Mako robotic arm-assisted technology for more precise hip and knee replacement procedures.
“We’re planning on hiring 25 new employees, and I think that is just the beginning of it,” Kay said.
Kay, who has been with CIO since 2001, will split his time between the Fishers and Anderson facilities.
