Updated 10:39 a.m. March 18, 2020: The City of Noblesville recently issued a corrective statement confirming the new case of coronavirus actually was not in Noblesville.

Noblesville has confirmed its first case of coronavirus.

The statement came on the tails of the Indiana State Dept. of Health announcement claiming there were nine more cases of the virus in the state, bringing the total to 39. One of those cases was in Hamilton County.

“The City of Noblesville has been informed that we have the first confirmed case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community,” Mayor Chris Jensen stated. “We do not want residents to panic as health officials are taking the proper steps to ensure the case stays as isolated as possible. Through our partnerships and preparedness planning, we are confident that the city is ready to respond to this situation as well as potential broader impact if it were to occur in Noblesville. We also want to remind residents on the importance of taking necessary precautions, including washing their hands, practicing social distancing, being observant of symptoms
