Allen Duros, a financial advisor with Edward Jones, said one-third of New Year’s resolutions are finance-related. Duros wanted to do something to help those looking to improve their finances, so he’s offering a free four-part financial workshop to the public.
“We wanted to provide a resource to set up a foundational kickstart for the new year for people who wanted to know a little bit more,” said Duros, noting that the financial workshops will not be product-related and are meant to be educational.
The first workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 and will focus on key features of bonds, stocks and mutual funds. The second workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14 and will focus on retirement. The third workshop will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 21 and focus on protecting against unexpected life events. The fourth workshop will be at at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 and will focus on estate plans.
Each workshop will be at McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W. 800 N., McCordsville.
A personal financial organizer will be offered to the first 20 people who RSVP.
“It’s really for anybody, because here’s the thing, especially what we see, is there’s a lot of fear, a lot of unknown, and (the workshops) are primarily designed for those people setting those New Years’ resolutions,” he said. “That can be an 18-year-old or a 70-year-old.”
RSVPs are required by Jan. 3. Refreshments will be offered at each workshop. To RSVP, call 317-336-3248 or email [email protected].
