Man dies installing holiday decorations in downtown Noblesville

There is an ongoing investigation in regard to a man’s death in downtown Noblesville. At 12:19 p.m. Nov. 20, Noblesville police and fire personnel responded to the 100 block of N. Eighth Street after a call for an injured person.

Upon arriving, emergency responders located a male subject suffering from traumatic injuries associated with an apparent fall. The victim was later identified as Ryan Scott Herring, 21, of Gas City. He was a contracted worker from Winterland Inc. in Marion and was installing holiday decorations on light poles on the square in downtown Noblesville.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies and several citizens provided aid to Herring after the incident. Herring was transported by ground ambulance to Riverview Health in Noblesville where he was later pronounced dead.

The City of Noblesville released the following statement:

“This was a tragic incident. Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family during this extremely difficult time.”

This investigation is ongoing.
