Update: Carmel police report that the incident has been addressed and schools have returned to normal operation.

Forest Dale and Woodbrook elementary schools in southeast Carmel have activated the “shelter in place” protocol as Carmel police attempt to locate a suicidal male possibly in the area.

Carmel Police Dept. James Semester said the incident has no direct ties to the schools but that the male was last known to be in a nearby neighborhood. CPD requested that the schools activate the protocol.

During a shelter in place scenario, students and staff remain in their classrooms for typical instruction. People are asked to avoid entering or exiting the building at this time.
