Dogs are welcome. There will be a silent and live auction, live music, food trucks and wine tastings. There also will be activities for children and dogs.

The Humane Society for Hamilton County and Indy Animal Care Service will be on-site to provide information on adoptable dogs.

All proceeds benefit Kassie Kares, a fundraiser to help people earn scholarships.

Kassie Kares was started after Kassie Braun died in November of 2017 during a program called Semester at Sea. At the time, Kassie was working with children in other nations.

Rachel Quade, a fundraiser organizer, had known Kassie since she was 4 years old.

“(When she was young) she would give her birthday presents to others that were less fortunate. As she got older, she began to give more globally,” Quade said. “I adored Kassie. Anything I can do to keep her memory alive, I will do.”

Proceeds will fund a scholarship to Cathedral High School as well as fund a trip to St. Edwards University in Austin, Texas and help build a school in Nigeria.

The school will open this fall. The fundraising goal for the school is $3.5 million. It will be named the Kassie Braun Memorial School.

Kassie’s mom, Chalene, said Kassie had dedicated her life to give to others.

“Kassie’s life came to such an abrupt end,” Chalene said. “She had so many plans to serve. That was, for me and my family, the biggest loss of all.”
