On June 10, the intersection at Cumberland Road and Field Drive was closed for construction of a roundabout.
City of Noblesville officials said the area will be fully closed for approximately seven weeks, weather permitting.
A detour directs drivers to Allisonville Road, 191st Street and Ind. 37.
The Noblesville Engineering Dept. analyzed the intersection out of concern for vehicle delays and safety.
“In order to create a safer and more efficient intersection, a roundabout was chosen,” a statement from the city read. “Construction on the roundabout has been coordinated around Noblesville Schools summer break to minimize the impact to the high school.”
United Construction Services has been selected by INDOT to construct the $977,000 roundabout, which is funded through a federal grant with the City of Noblesville’s match of 20 percent, or $195,400.
City officials said access to all nearby residences, businesses and facilities will be maintained and posted throughout construction. Emergency services also are aware of impending construction that would block or limit access.
