UPDATE: The Zionsville Police Dept. now has three juveniles and one adult in custody following the attempted traffic stop early this morning. Two stolen vehicles were recovered. One vehicle was stolen from Marion County and the other vehicle was stolen in Zionsville.
The Zionsville Police Dept. is still searching for one suspect after a vehicular pursuit the morning of May 16.
ZPD attempted to stop a vehicle early morning May 16 while the vehicle was exiting the Hunters Point Apartment complex. The vehicle was traveling with another vehicle, and both fled the scene, leading police into a pursuit through the Thornhill neighborhood.
When one of the vehicles crashed into a tree, two individuals fled from it. The second vehicle continued driving then stopped and the driver then fled on foot.
Police then saw one of the individuals exit the woods and get into a white Buick SUV. However, when officers attempted to stop the Buick, it crashed into a Whitestown police car and was then pulled over on Oak Street and Lexington Drive. A black female driver and black male in the back seat were taken into custody and are being questioned.
Later on in the morning, officers received a call about a suspicious black male at the Speedway gas station restroom at Oak Street and Ford Road. Officers identified him as an occupant of one of the vehicles from the pursuit.
Two of the three suspects have been taken into custody, but ZPD is still searching for a white male. As of press time, a perimeter was set up and several police agencies are on the scene with K9s and drones.
ZPD encourages residents of Hunters Point, Thornhill, Irongate and Old Dominion neighborhoods to lock their doors, keep the lights on and only travel out of their homes if necessary.
