The Carmel Clay Public Library Foundation will present Kristy Woodson Harvey at 2:30 p.m. May 19 as part of its visiting author series. The award-winning author will discuss her latest book, “The Southern Side of Paradise.”
“I think our audience will love her,” said Liz Hamilton, CCPL foundation director. “She is excellent at character development and draws you in immediately. You can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen in these people’s lives. She has a knack for being able to do that.”
The book is the third in Harvey’s Peachtree Bluff series and focuses on a long-kept family secret. She has previously authored “Slightly South of Simple” and “The Secret to Southern Charm.”
Her books, altough part of a series, also are considered stand-alone reads.
“If you haven’t read her first two books in the series, you won’t be lost,” Hamilton said. “We will have all three at the library for sale during the event, though.”
Harvey blogs with her mother, Beth Woodson, on her blog “Design Chic,” devoted to home decor design.
“When she really started writing, other writers in her genre started to notice her,” Hamilton said. “They have a lot of respect for her. I think people really took notice of her, which says a lot about her as a writer.”
Harvey will discuss her new book and then take questions from the audience.
“It’s always nice to have a full room, and I think the authors appreciate that,” Hamilton said. “The crowd and the authors feed off of each other a little bit. She’ll do her standard presentation, followed by a Q&A and then a book signing.”
The event is free but guests must register in advance. Email [email protected] or call 317-814-3984.
