BGCN earns $5K for character building

The Boys & Girls Club of Noblesville recently received a $5,000 grant from the Crosser Family Foundation, a fund of Hamilton County Community Foundation, in support of its character-building programs.

With the support of the Crosser Family Foundation, the club will be able provide additional programming, which will be called “I Count,” to focus on inclusiveness, self-esteem, acceptance, kindness and anti-bullying. In partnership with the Murphy Mentoring Group, BGCN will provide its pre-teen and teen members with weekly group mentorship and discussion opportunities that focus on their social and emotional needs at such a volatile age.

“While the Club’s members are in our care, we have a tremendous opportunity to make an impact on their lives with character-building programming that they may not receive in a school setting,” said Nathan Helm, BGCN director of development. “With the support of the Crosser Family Foundation, we are able to offer a program to teens and pre-teens that will assist in their development by teaching things like navigating through stressful situations, the power of positive thinking and building healthy relationships.”

The Crosser Family Foundation was established by Janet R. Crosser and the late Richard H. Crosser in 2001. The foundation focuses on continuing, celebrating and inspiring philanthropy in the community. Since its inception, the foundation has given grants totaling more than $3 million to community groups, organizations and businesses focused on providing services to enrich the lives of youth and their families.
