As construction on the new Lawrence Police Dept. headquarters nears halfway, the LPD is inviting the public to sign a steel beam which will eventually be the final beam lifted into place. The “Leave Your Mark” signing event will run until March 22, and members of the public can come into the Lawrence Government Center, 9001 E. 59th St., from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday to sign the beam.
