Rake Development merges with Fishers-based NEXTFLY

Andy Heiser realized the limitations of being a one-man team at Rake Development, a marketing strategy company.

So Heiser, a Fishers resident, realized he could help more businesses by combining with Fishers-based NEXTFLY Web Designs. So, in 2019, the two companies merged and will be known as NEXTFLY.

“I’m definitely optimistic,” Heiser said. “Both companies do a phenomenal job in their lanes. Merging the two together is going to be awesome.”

Heiser has worked for or with NEXTFLY since 2009. He first started there after he finished college.

“When I decided to go my own 4 1/2 years ago, NEXTFLY was super supportive,” Heiser said.

Heiser created Rake Development, a marking strategy company.

“NEXTFLY became one of my best vendors because they offer web development and I did marketing services,” Heiser said. “We had a very close relationship the entire time, so it made sense for us to start talking about joining forces, and that’s what we did. We were working together already on a lot of projects.”

Heiser, 32, is now the chief marketing officer for NEXTFLY, a digital marketing, website design and search engine optimization company.

At Rake, Heiser was a marketing general contractor.

“I would talk to clients about what they are trying to do and build a playbook and a plan to execute to find more clients they are looking for,” Heiser said. “Oftentimes, that meant re-designing the website, video and social media advertising and social media management. As a strategist, my goal is to find the right vendors to execute that plan. So, NEXTFLY was naturally a good vendor for the website side of things. “They found their customers were asking for (marketing) advice once they had this awesome website, (then they were asking) ‘What do we do now?’ So, we shared a lot of clients back and forth.”

A Hamilton Southeastern High School graduate, Heiser graduated from IUPUI’s Kelley School of Business with a degree in marketing and supply chain management.
