The O’Connor House in Carmel will play host to the 2019 Celebration of Life Fundraising Event at 6:30 p.m. March 9 at the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre, Center Green. The annual event is the largest fundraiser for the Christian home for single, pregnant and homeless women.
“It is an annual event, so we change the theme and try new things,” said Nancy Imhoff, development director. “This year we’re doing something entirely different, so we’re super excited about it.”
The evening will include entertainment by Nashville-based recording artist Damien Horne.
“One of our board members saw him and heard his story,” Imhoff said. “It aligned with the moms who live at the O’Connor house. He was raised by a single mother, and they had their struggles. We’re super excited to have him and think people will really enjoy the performance and his story.”
Horne was more than willing to participate.
“I’m from a huge family raised by a single mother,” he said. “I love to speak and share my story. Hopefully, it encourages and motivates people to keep moving forward. A lot of times it’s helpful knowing someone else has been where you’ve been.”
Admission is $100 per person or $175 per couple. It includes beer, wine, appetizers, dessert and a brief presentation about the home and a success story.
“Damien will begin at 8 p.m., and then the O’Connor House will have a brief video program sharing a little bit about us,” Imhoff said. “We share some of the success stories and what we do and why we exist. There will be a live auction following the presentation to support the cause.”
Attire is casual. Tickets should be purchased by March 1. For more, visit bidpal.net/toch/welcome.
