Six of Carmel’s seven city council members filed to run for re-election on Jan. 9, the first day for filing. The filing period ends at noon Feb. 8 for the May 7 primary. Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard also filed for re-election, as well as newcomers Sue Wolfgang for city clerk and Miles Nelson for the city council’s future west district, which does have an incumbent living in its boundaries. The council approved new district boundaries and added a district in 2018, and the candidates will run in these new districts in 2019 and take office in 2020. Incumbent councilor Tony Green has not filed for re-election but previously indicated he would. (Submitted photo)
