That affection for the Italian culture grew during three years working as a broker for ReMax Corporate all over Italy. Even after returning to Carmel to work as a broker for ReMax Indiana in December 2017, Love has decided to continue as an independent broker in Italy.

“I was able to learn about the country, and this is why I can specialize in that area,” Love said. “There is really no one else that specializes in Italian real estate here.”

The Carmel resident said she has to be flexible because she has listings in Italy and in Carmel.

“If someone wants a house in Tuscany or Como or Sicily, I have agents everywhere,” Love said.

Love had to get used to the slower pace in Italian real estate, especially in the southern part of the country.

“The south, Sicily and Rome, is a little more laid-back,” she said. “I’ve learned to deal with Italian culture. It takes a long time for things to move, paperwork, licensing and documentation.”

Love has been to Italy three times since returning a year ago.

“Typically the listings I have in Italy have been from the people that I’ve met there,” she said. “I do a lot of consulting here. People call and ask me about Italy, what do they do when they go there, what do they buy. I don’t have a lot of clients in Indiana for Italy. A lot are from New York and Miami.”

She collaborates with other agents on Indianapolis area listings if she is in Italy.

Love said clients are always able to reach her as she is active on social media. Silvia Love Real Estate has more than 150,000 followers on Facebook.

A Southport High School graduate, Love majored in psychology at the University of Indianapolis.

“Even though I’m not in psychology, I try to help people as much as I can,” said Love, who worked for a bank for a few years before becoming a real estate broker.

During her first year living in Italy, Love learned she needed to learn more of the Italian language.

“My biggest asset in Indiana was my intelligence,” Love said. “Over there, I couldn’t transfer my knowledge because I couldn’t speak. I was so frustrated. The second year was better and the third year I kind of got hold of it. I don’t mind asking, ‘What is this?’ if I don’t understand it.”

Love will participate in her third Carmel Success Strategies Seminar, entitled “Health and Aesthetics for Professionals Today and its Effects on Personal Success.” The seminar is set for 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at Carmel City Hall, 1 Civic Square.

“The bottom line is inspiring and connecting people,” Love said of the seminars.

Love will serve as facilitator with keynote speakers Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard and  Dr. Greg Chernoff, Triple Board Certified, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. It starts at 5:30 p.m. with a reception catered by Sullivan’s Steakhouse with speakers following from 6 to 8 p.m. The final half-hour will include prizes and giveaways. Chernoff Cosmetic Surgeons and Sullivan’s are sponsors.
