The Boone County Economic Development Corp. recently chose Boone County native Rachel Huser as its new Economic Development Manager. Huser started the position Nov. 26. She will focus on attracting new business to Boone County.

“Companies contact us looking to expand their business or proactively market their business,” Huser said.

Although not a requirement for the role, Huser’s familiarity with Boone County was certainly a plus. Her family owns Master Built Construction, Inc., based in Lebanon.

“It was a benefit that she was from Boone County,” said Kim Heffner, director of marketing and communications for Boone County EDC. “She knows some of the key players and key leaders in the area. That will be really beneficial in her new role. Her parents own a small business in the area, so that is helpful.”

Huser graduated from Saint Mary’s College in 2016 with a degree in business administration. Most recently, she served as a senior analyst at Lakeshore Food Advisors, LLC, a boutique investment banking firm in Chicago.

“Rachel really stood out because she had so much experience working the banking industry. We really thought she had a good background when it came to managing projects,” Heffner said. “In her previous role she did a lot of project management, and we thought those skills (would) be great for us.”

Huser is excited to work in an area she knows so well.

“I’m thrilled to serve the county and municipalities,” she said. “I’ve watched the county grow throughout the years. I’m excited to serve the community members, small businesses and prospective new businesses.”
