A 4-D virtual reality theater has arrived in Fishers.

Pinheads recently opened the 4-D theater, which will feature an attraction called Dark Ride XD. It is the only 4-D reality theater in central Indiana, Pinheads General Manager Jack Vermillion said.

“It does have some gaming involved with it, but if you are not a gamer whatsoever, you are still going to enjoy it for 4-D effects,” Vermillion said. “The seat moving around makes you feel like you are moving. The wind is blowing in your face, things to that effect. Each person has one blaster to shoot bad guys throughout the scene.”

The price is $8.95 per person, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, at the bowling and entertainment center, 13825 Britton Park Rd. The cost is $6.95 Monday through Thursday. The attraction is for ages 7 years and older.

Eight people can participate at the same time in the 5 1/2-minute game. If guests have a large enough group, they can participate together or with other customers. Seats move left, right, up and back and have seat belts.

“As soon as you sit down, the curtains close around you,” Vermillion said. “There is surround sound. It basically feels like you are in the scenarios. If you get motion sickness, you can ask that the seats be shut off.”

There are 12 different scenarios.

“We are in the process of determining the four we want to carry at a time,” Vermillion said. “We’ll rotate those 12 through the year, but we’ll only carry four at one time.”

Vermillion said on weekdays, people can choose which scenario to play. On weekends, Vermillion said there likely will be a now-playing sign with the scenario changing each hour.

Reaction to the attraction has been positive, Vermillion said. After a soft opening with employees and friends, the 4-D theater officially opened Nov. 21.
