Village Music instructor sentenced to 4 years in prison

Kristoffer Ryan Blattner, owner of Village Music in Zionsville and former music instructor, pleaded guilty to child molestation Oct. 10.

Blattner was charged March 22 with child molesting, a level 4 felony.

At the Dec. 12 sentencing hearing, Boone County Superior Court Judge Matthew Kincaid sentenced Blattner to four years incarceration at the Indiana Department of Corrections, followed by six years probation with special probation terms for a sexually violent offender.

Blattner said he has been seeking help since August for alcoholism and depression.

“I am embarrassed and ashamed of what I have done,” Blattner said. “I regret what I did. This is something that will affect me for the rest of my life.”

Blattner’s lawyer, Allan Reid, argued for a total sentence of two years probation with house arrest. Boone County Deputy Prosecutor Heidi Jennings asked for the maximum 10 year sentence – four years incarceration plus six years probation.

“Mr. Blattner did these actions and needs to face some consequences,” Jennings said.

Blattner will receive good time credit of 1 day for every three days served and will likely be eligible for early release.
